Republicans Spend $200 Million to Protect Texas Races
National Republicans are spending $200 million to support Ken Paxton as he trails James Talarico in a competitive Texas Senate race.
Republicans are deploying significant financial resources to secure key seats in Texas less than three weeks before election day. National party leaders have allocated approximately $200 million for advertisements to support Senate candidate Ken Paxton, who currently trails Democratic opponent James Talarico in the polls. The spending aims to protect both Paxton's campaign and the broader Republican Senate majority.
Donald Trump expressed concern over the state of these contests in early October, stating, "We’re worried about Texas."
Governor Greg Abbott is also facing a more competitive gubernatorial race than in previous cycles. While Abbott continues to outspend his Democratic challenger, Gina Hinojosa, by a ratio of six-to-one, he is no longer maintaining the double-digit leads he achieved in prior elections.
