Iranian and Qatari Leaders Meet Putin in Moscow
President Masoud Pezeshkian and Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met in Moscow to strengthen ties before scheduled meetings with Vladimir Putin.
Masoud Pezeshkian and Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met Tuesday in Moscow during a Gas Exporting Countries Forum summit. The leaders focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and deepening political and economic ties between Iran and Qatar.
Following the bilateral talks, Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to meet with both Pezeshkian and Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Although Qatar has previously mediated efforts to end the regional war sparked by US-Israeli strikes on February 28, the meeting between the Iranian and Qatari leaders did not reportedly address the conflict.
In a separate diplomatic development, Vladimir Putin expressed readiness to resume talks with Ukraine to establish long-term security guarantees for both nations. This statement followed discussions between the Russian president and US presidential envoy Steve Witkoff.
