Marco Rubio Warns Against West Bank Crisis at UN

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned during the United Nations General Assembly in New York City that the United States seeks to avoid additional flashpoints in the West Bank. Addressing the threat of Iran, Rubio characterized the nation as a "malign force in the region" and questioned whether its leadership wants to be a country or a revolution. He blamed the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps for the collapse of a memorandum of understanding reached earlier this summer. Following surprise indirect talks between Washington and Tehran in New York, Rubio asserted that President Trump intends to take action to ensure Iran never acquires a nuclear weapon.

In response to the regional instability, the Israel Defense Forces reinforced command arrangements in the West Bank. Meanwhile, the U.S. reaffirmed its defense commitments to Saudi Arabia amid its ongoing conflict with Iranian-backed Houthis.
