Israeli Strikes Kill One and Target Rescuers in Lebanon

Israeli military strikes in southern Lebanon killed one person and targeted rescue teams and civil defense personnel on Tuesday.

The Israeli military conducted strikes in southern Lebanon on Tuesday, killing one person and damaging an ambulance in the city of Nabatieh. The attacks targeted a vehicle and subsequently struck rescuers from the Risala Scouts Association.

Lebanon's civil defense reported a separate drone strike targeting personnel who were attempting to extinguish a bushfire in the same region. The Ministry of Public Health of Lebanon condemned the targeting of rescue teams, calling it an unacceptable violation of international humanitarian law.

These incidents occurred despite a truce established following a June US-Iran memorandum of understanding and a framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel. While the agreement mandates a gradual Israeli military withdrawal and the disarmament of Hezbollah, Hezbollah continues to reject the deal and refuses to disarm.
