Donald Trump and Prime Minister Burnham Meet in New York

President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Burnham are holding their first face-to-face meeting in New York. The summit was originally scheduled for Washington, but the venue was changed due to scheduling conflicts caused by a state visit from Chinese Leader Xi Jinping.

The leaders are focusing their discussions on energy strategy and regional security in the Middle East and Ukraine. Trump stated that Burnham promised to facilitate increased oil and gas drilling in the North Sea.

Separately, the Government of the United Kingdom is increasing its diplomatic presence in Venezuela. The UK is appointing an ambassador to Caracas to support a political transition following the capture of Nicolás Maduro in January.
