Benny Biton Proposes National Unity Government for Israel
Dimona Mayor Benny Biton proposed a national unity government guaranteed by Isaac Herzog and Donald Trump to resolve Israel's political deadlock.
Dimona Mayor Benny Biton, a close associate of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, proposed the formation of a national unity government involving opposition parties to address the current political deadlock. Biton urged opposition leaders Gadi Eisenkot, Avigdor Liberman, and Naftali Bennett to set aside personal differences and enter immediate negotiations, stating that "The State of Israel is in danger right now."
To address opposition concerns, Biton suggested that Israeli President Isaac Herzog and U.S. President Donald Trump serve as guarantors for the agreement. He emphasized that "Benjamin Netanyahu wants unity" to stabilize the government.
Simultaneously, Biton and the Likud party issued a warning against unilateral efforts by the opposition to replace Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana. Biton characterized such a move as a "declaration of war" and a "red line" that would end the possibility of a unity government, potentially forcing another election.
