U.S. and Iran Exchange Reciprocal Military Strikes

The United States and Iran engaged in reciprocal military strikes on July 24, 2026. United States Central Command executed the 13th consecutive night of airstrikes against Iranian military command centers, drone storage, and communication networks in hubs including Khorramabad, Jask, Ahvaz, Bandar Abbas, and Qeshm Island.

In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched drone and missile attacks against U.S. assets across the region. These strikes targeted the U.S. Navy Fifth Fleet control tower and Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain, Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan, and ammunition storage at Al-Adairi Base in Kuwait, as well as areas near Erbil International Airport in Iraq.

Diplomatic tensions escalated as President Donald Trump threatened to seize Iranian assets to pay for damages. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that such actions create an incendiary precedent and that continued aggression would carry a heavy price. Meanwhile, the Iraqi Prime Minister's office and U.S. officials denied a New York Times report claiming Iran had rejected a U.S. ceasefire proposal delivered via Iraq.
