Trump Envoys Meet Russian Representative in Miami Over Ukraine Plan

U.S. representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are scheduled to meet with Kirill Dmitriev, the head of Russia's sovereign wealth fund and special envoy for the Kremlin, in Miami on Saturday. The meeting aims to discuss a U.S.-proposed peace plan for Ukraine and follows preliminary discussions in Berlin between American, European, and Ukrainian officials regarding security guarantees and territorial concessions.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, has expressed readiness to drop NATO bids in exchange for security guarantees. However, Russian President Vladimir Putin has demanded that Moscow be granted recognition of captured regions, including Crimea. Putin has warned that Russia will extend its gains if these peace demands are rejected.

The diplomatic push in Florida coincides with other high-level efforts. Witkoff is also scheduled to meet with officials from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey in Miami on Friday to discuss the next phase of a Gaza peace deal. Meanwhile, an EU summit is taking place in Brussels to determine loans for the Ukrainian government utilizing frozen Russian assets. These negotiations continue amid ongoing aerial attacks between Russia and Ukraine.
