Rahul Gandhi Urges Parties to Defeat BJP Delimitation Bill

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi urged all national and Tamil political parties to defeat the central government's proposed delimitation bill in Parliament. Speaking in Mamallapuram, Gandhi described the legislation as a Bharatiya Janata Party conspiracy designed to disenfranchise the people of Tamil Nadu and strip the state of its political power. He compared anyone supporting the bill to Ettappan, an 18th-century historical symbol of betrayal.

Congress MP Sukhdeo Bhagat joined the criticism, arguing that increasing the number of Members of Parliament is inappropriate. Bhagat asserted that the current Lok Sabha strength of 543 members is sufficient for effective governance and that expanding the house would place an undue burden on the system.

During his visit to Mamallapuram, Gandhi also attended a training session for District Congress Committee presidents. He met with families of students who committed suicide due to NEET-related pressures, criticizing corruption within the education system and demanding an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding cancelled exams and paper leaks.
