Rahul Gandhi and Kharge Demand Probe into Ram Temple Trust Theft

Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge have urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to order an independent investigation into alleged embezzlement of donations at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 18 demanding an independent investigation into the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. The leaders allege that thousands of crores were stolen from the trust, which they argue leaves devotees feeling betrayed.

The demand follows a police investigation into thefts that began in early June, which has already led to eight arrests and the resignation of two senior Trust officials. Gandhi and Kharge assert that the central government bears responsibility for the situation because the Trust was formed following the Prime Minister's announcement in Parliament and its members were appointed by the government.

The Congress leaders are calling for the Trust's accounts and the findings of the current investigation to be made public to ensure transparency and accountability.
