Modi and Parmelin Discuss Global Crises in New Delhi
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Swiss President Guy Parmelin met in New Delhi to discuss geopolitical crises, UN reforms, and India's peace proposal for Ukraine.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Swiss President Guy Parmelin held high-level talks in New Delhi on October 5 to address global fragmentation and economic volatility. The leaders focused on ethical AI governance, United Nations multilateral reforms, and the role of Geneva as a neutral platform for diplomacy. To resolve pending bilateral issues, the two leaders established official working groups to fast-track solutions.
The meeting occurred as India continues to broker peace between Russia and Ukraine. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha identified India's peace proposal as the most comprehensive among four international submissions currently under review by Kyiv. Russian President Vladimir Putin also praised the ideas proposed by Prime Minister Modi for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
Prime Minister Modi maintained that dialogue remains the only viable path to lasting peace. President Parmelin characterized the alignment between the two democracies as a stabilizing force during a period of international instability.
