Texas Counties Report Record Early Voting Turnout
Texas counties recorded historic early voting numbers for the November 3 election as U.S. Senate candidates Ken Paxton and James Talarico intensify campaigns.
Several Texas counties reported record-breaking turnout during the first two days of early voting for the November 3 election. Harris County, the state's largest, set a record for first-day midterm turnout, while Dallas and Montgomery counties also saw historic numbers. In Harrison County, 4,667 people cast ballots by Tuesday evening, representing nearly 10% of the county's registered voters.
As voting begins, U.S. Senate candidates are escalating their efforts. Republican candidate Ken Paxton launched a two-week statewide bus tour, which included a rally in Richmond. Democratic candidate James Talarico campaigned in Tyler and has publicly called for a debate.
Although the Paxton campaign expressed a willingness to debate, they have raised objections regarding specific moderators. The two candidates have not yet agreed on terms to share a stage.
