Iran Launches Missile Attack on U.S. Base in Jordan

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched a surprise ballistic missile attack on a United States military base in Jordan on Tuesday. The strike occurred shortly after President Donald Trump shifted toward a diplomatic approach and paused military operations against Tehran to facilitate negotiations. United States Central Command confirmed that multiple missiles were fired but reported that all projectiles were intercepted, resulting in no casualties or damage.

The incident follows a volatile period of hostilities, including 13 nights of U.S. strikes against Iran after a previous ceasefire collapsed. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz revealed that American military aircraft utilized Israeli bases to conduct those strikes. Katz noted that while the U.S. operates from Israeli territory, Iran has avoided targeting Israel.

Prior to the attack, President Trump had expressed optimism regarding a potential negotiated peace agreement, noting that both nations had observed a ceasefire for three consecutive days. However, U.S. forces remain on high alert following the missile attempt. Israel has warned it will retaliate with full force if its own territory comes under attack.
