Russia and Ukraine Exchange Massive Missile and Drone Strikes

The Military of the Russian Federation launched a massive wave of 41 missiles and 125 drones on July 19, targeting Kyiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Sumy. The strikes killed at least seven people and injured 49, destroying corporate and military-industrial sites including the WOG warehouse and the Amtel logistics complex. Russian officials claimed the targets were military-linked plants producing drones and missile parts. In Vilniansk, Russian forces also destroyed a Ukrainian Red Cross Society vehicle with an FPV drone strike while volunteers were administering aid.

In response, Ukraine conducted extensive operations against Russian territory. Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed drone strikes targeting logistics facilities and oil depots in the Moscow region, as well as attacks on energy hubs in Crimea and the Stavropol region. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported over 400 drones headed toward the capital, with the Russian Ministry of Defense claiming 381 were intercepted across 16 regions. The Moscow strikes injured 10 people, including three Chinese nationals, and damaged sites such as the Wildberries logistics center.

Further Ukrainian operations targeted Russia's shadow fleet in the Black and Azov seas, including attacks on tankers at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium terminal in Novorossiysk, which halted oil loadings. Amidst these escalations, U.S. President Donald Trump stated he is prepared to grant Ukraine licenses to produce Patriot missile systems locally to address air defense shortages.
