Republican Groups Spend $102 Million to Support Ken Paxton
Republican groups have committed over $102 million in advertising for Texas Senate nominee Ken Paxton, reversing an early Democratic spending lead.
Republican groups have surged financial support for Texas Senate nominee Ken Paxton, booking more than $102 million in advertising from September 1 through Election Day. This spending marks a significant reversal from the period between May 27 and August 31, when Democratic spending led $30.3 million to $5.1 million.
Donald Trump endorsed Paxton and indicated that approximately $1 billion is available through affiliated super PACs to support GOP candidates. In contrast, Senator John Cornyn, whom Paxton defeated in the May runoff, has declined to fund the campaign. Cornyn argued that the massive expenditure required in Texas would deplete resources for other critical Republican races.
Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Chair Kirsten Gillibrand pledged to continue supporting candidate James Talarico despite the spending gap. Gillibrand noted that the DSCC is allocating $40 million across 10 states to fund grassroots and legal efforts.
