President Bola Tinubu Begins Three-Nation Tour of Africa and France
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu departed Abuja for a diplomatic tour of France, Kenya, and Rwanda to promote Nigerian economic reforms and attract global investment.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of Nigeria, departed Abuja for a two-week diplomatic tour of France, Kenya, and Rwanda. While initial announcements scheduled his departure for Saturday, May 2, 2026, his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, later confirmed the trip was rescheduled to begin on Sunday.
The itinerary begins with a visit to France before the president travels to Nairobi, Kenya, for the Africa-France Summit from May 11 to 12. Co-chaired by President Emmanuel Macron and President William Ruto, the summit focuses on energy transition, digital transformation, climate action, and the reform of global financing architecture under the theme Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth.
Following the summit in Kenya, President Tinubu will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, from May 14 to 15 to participate in the annual Africa CEO Forum. Organized in partnership with the International Finance Corporation, the forum gathers over 2,000 executives to discuss regional integration and cross-border investment. Throughout the tour, the president intends to highlight Nigeria's economic reforms and hold high-level meetings with business leaders to position the country as a prime investment destination.
