Iran Demands Reparations from Gulf States After US-Israeli War

Iran is demanding compensation from six Gulf nations and condemning a US naval blockade following a 40-day conflict sparked by the assassination of Ayatollah Khamenei.

The Government of Iran is demanding full material and moral restitution from Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan for their alleged complicity in a US-Israeli military campaign. This diplomatic escalation follows a 40-day conflict that began on February 28, 2026, with the assassination of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, schools, and hospitals. Iran responded with Operation True Promise 4, launching hundreds of drones and missiles at Israeli positions and US bases in West Asia.

Although Pakistan brokered a ceasefire on April 8, diplomatic efforts stalled. Talks in Islamabad on April 11 failed after the US did not adopt an Iranian ten-point plan for sanctions removal and troop withdrawal. While President Donald Trump extended the ceasefire on April 21, he subsequently implemented a naval blockade of Iranian ports. Iran views this blockade as a violation of the truce and a primary barrier to further negotiations.

Iranian officials have dismissed allegations from the Gulf Cooperation Council regarding Tehran's retaliatory strikes as baseless. They maintain that the current insecurity in the Persian Gulf and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which has disrupted 20 percent of global oil and gas supplies, is a direct result of US and Israeli aggression.
