Rahul Gandhi Leads March Demanding PM Modi's Resignation

Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi led a march of Congress MPs to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi on July 21, 2026. Accompanied by Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the opposition demanded the resignations of Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The protest followed a police crackdown on a 'Chalo Sansad' march organized by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), where students protesting NEET-UG paper leaks and examination irregularities faced lathi charges.

Before the sit-in at Lok Kalyan Marg and Rajaji Marg, Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi visited injured students at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. However, Gandhi avoided the Jantar Mantar protest site and activist Sonam Wangchuk's hunger strike at Safdarjung Hospital, a move party sources described as a strategic effort to keep the Congress's 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' campaign from being overshadowed by independent leaders.

The demonstration ended with the Delhi Police detaining several senior leaders, including Gandhi, Charanjit Singh Channi, and Kanhaiya Kumar. While Union Minister Jitendra Singh stated the government was ready to discuss the issues in Parliament, the Congress leadership maintained its demand for resignations. Separately, Union Health Minister JP Nadda met with a CJP delegation to discuss written demands for compensation for deceased NEET aspirants and the resignation of Minister Pradhan.
