Burnham also demanded the immediate release of British citizen Jimmy Lai.

Parallel to the meeting, former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt disclosed that Trump had previously told former Prime Minister Keir Starmer that his policies were "so stupid" during a lunch in the United Kingdom a year prior. Leavitt characterized these candid remarks as typical of the president's diplomatic style, stating that he is upfront with leaders about deteriorating policies even while maintaining respect for their cultures.
