Marco Rubio Announces Total Blockade and Sanctions on Iran

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that the Trump administration has imposed a total blockade and crushing sanctions on Iran to exert extraordinary economic pressure on the regime. Speaking on the Sid and Friends in the Morning program, Rubio stated these measures aim to reduce Iranian funding for terrorism and the development of nuclear weapons.

Rubio asserted that the blockade has prevented Iran from exporting oil for several weeks. To maintain global oil flow, the United States military is working to clear mines and protect shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Rubio argued that preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon is essential to stop the regime from controlling the straits and threatening the United States or its neighbors.

In subsequent remarks in New York, Rubio noted that reaching an agreement with Iran would require a negotiation process involving time and hard work. He claimed the Iranian government is operating under the illusion that a Democratic victory in the November elections would prevent President Donald Trump from taking action. Rubio emphasized that the president maintains a military option and confirmed that Washington will continue to ensure the Strait of Hormuz remains open.
