Anduril Founder Warns Trump's Taiwan Arms Delay Hurts Business

Anduril founder Palmer Luckey stated on Saturday that President Donald Trump's delay in approving a $14 billion arms package for Taiwan is negatively impacting his company's business. Speaking at a defense forum in Taipei, Luckey noted that the hold on the package hinders forward progress in other areas of defense cooperation.

President Trump has held the arms deal in abeyance since a May summit in Beijing with Chinese President Xi Jinping, characterizing the package as a "very good negotiating chip." Luckey reported discussing the situation with Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, noting that the administration is weighing the sale against potential Chinese retaliation, particularly regarding rare earth minerals.

The arms package remains a point of contention as the Government of China continues to oppose U.S. weapons sales to the island. The issue is expected to be a primary topic during an upcoming meeting between Trump and Xi in Washington.
