Russia Ships First Diesel Cargo to United States

Russia will dispatch its first diesel fuel cargo to the United States on Thursday following an export agreement between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.

Russia will dispatch its first diesel fuel cargo to the United States on Thursday, marking the start of a deal reached between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump on October 9. The initial shipment consists of 40,000 metric tons, with total October deliveries expected to exceed 300,000 metric tons. Volume is projected to rise to 500,000 metric tons in November and potentially reach 1 million metric tons shortly thereafter.

Vice Prime Minister Alexander Novak stated the exports are driven by a physical surplus, noting that Russian refining capacity currently exceeds domestic demand by a factor of two. Russia had previously restricted exports to manage shortages caused by scheduled refinery maintenance and Ukrainian drone attacks.

While the agreement aims to meet U.S. energy needs and maintain Russian industrial throughput, the deal has reportedly caused a sharp deterioration in diplomatic ties between the United States and Ukraine.
