India and US Discuss AI and Semiconductor Cooperation at G20
Jitin Prasada met with US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and tech leaders to strengthen cooperation in semiconductors, AI, and data centers.
Minister of State for Commerce and Industry and Electronics and IT Jitin Prasada led Indian delegations at the G20 Innovation Ministerial in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, on September 3, 2026. During the event, Prasada held a bilateral meeting with U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick to discuss strengthening cooperation in semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and data centers.
Prasada also engaged with industry executives, including Anthropic co-founder Tom Brown, to review global AI progress and policy directions. During the ministerial, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang praised the state of India's IT industry. Prasada attributed this recognition to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Prasada emphasized that India is committed to building a robust indigenous AI ecosystem through local innovators and youth while remaining open to strategic international partnerships to shape the future of innovation.
