Han Zheng Criticizes U.S. Protectionism at UN General Assembly

Vice President Han Zheng detailed the divergent worldviews of Beijing and Washington during a speech at the United Nations General Assembly on Saturday. Despite a recent summit between Presidents Xi Jinping and Donald Trump, Han criticized the United States for its trade restrictions, tariff wars, and unilateral military actions.

Han called for the lifting of sanctions and the blockade against Cuba and advocated for the respect of sovereignty in the Middle East, specifically referencing February bombings of Iran by the U.S. and Israel. He urged a return to a WTO-centered multilateral trading system, stating that "protectionism produces no winners."

While projecting China as a global power center, Han's remarks occurred amid ongoing territorial confrontations involving Beijing in the South China Sea and along the Line of Actual Control with India.
