UK Defense Secretary Visits Kyiv to Discuss Ballistic Defense

British Defence Secretary Wes Streeting met with President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv to coordinate ballistic missile defenses and weaponry coproduction.

British Defence Secretary Wes Streeting visited Kyiv on Wednesday to meet with Volodymyr Zelensky to coordinate joint protections against Russian ballistic threats. The discussions focused on acquiring scarce defensive equipment and the potential for the coproduction of weaponry. During the meeting, Zelensky briefed Streeting on the necessity of imposing sanctions against Russian enterprises involved in the production of ballistic missiles.

This visit follows a previous meeting between Zelensky and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at a naval base in Portsmouth. During that encounter, Starmer affirmed that the United Kingdom would honor all commitments to Ukraine. As part of that support, the UK is providing the intellectual property for the Stone Cloak signal-jamming system, which enables Ukraine to produce devices at scale to prevent Russia from detecting drones.
