Putin Escalates Ukraine Strikes With North Korean Missile Support
Vladimir Putin is intensifying aerial bombardments and infantry attacks in Ukraine, supported by a new missile deployment deal with North Korea.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is executing a strategy of attrition against Ukraine through mass infantry attacks and intensified aerial bombardments. In July 2026, Moscow fired 107 ballistic missiles and 20 3M22 Zircon hypersonic missiles to deplete Ukrainian air defenses. To sustain these operations, Russia reached an agreement with North Korea to deploy a missile unit comprising six launchers and 120 ballistic missiles to western Russia.
Putin intends to destroy the Ukrainian electrical power grid during the winter to force the capitulation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. While Russia pursues this infrastructure campaign, Ukraine has launched deep-strike drone and missile attacks targeting Russian oil refineries and Wildberries distribution hubs.
Further Russian mobilization of conscripts and reserves is expected following the Duma elections in September to support the continued military offensive.
