Donald Trump Warns of Impeachment During Midterm Campaign
President Donald Trump warned that Democrats would seek to impeach him a third time if they regain control of Congress in the November 3 midterm elections.
Donald Trump warned Republican voters during campaign stops in Texas and Oklahoma on October 2 that Democrats would seek to impeach him for a third time if they win the November 3 midterm elections. The president used the threat of impeachment to motivate his base amid record-low approval ratings and public dissatisfaction regarding the cost of living and a war with Iran.
In Texas, Trump endorsed Republican Senate nominee Ken Paxton, despite having previously critiqued Paxton's attire and style. Republicans currently face competitive races in several deep-red states and are trailing in key House contests according to recent polls.
While House Democrats are planning investigations into the Trump administration should they win the chamber, party leaders have not committed to a formal impeachment inquiry.
