Israel Conducts Gaza Strikes and Targets Hamas Commanders

The Military of Israel conducted a series of air strikes, naval fire, and targeted ground operations across the Gaza Strip between September 24 and 25, 2026. On Wednesday, forces opened fire in central Gaza, killing Muhannad Hassan Abu Madin and wounding others near the Bureij and Nuseirat refugee camps. Air strikes on the same day killed at least seven people, while military vehicles engaged in gunfire near Khan Younis and Rafah. The Ministry of Health of Palestine reports that ceasefire violations since October 2025 have killed over 1,400 Palestinians.

On Thursday, the military killed four members of the military wing of Hamas, including a commander involved in the October 7, 2023, massacre and an individual responsible for transferring funds. During these operations, Israeli forces destroyed a two-kilometre-long tunnel. The military reported that two of its own soldiers died Thursday in a drone accident within the enclave.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel will not stop until Hamas no longer exists in the territory. Defense Minister Israel Katz added that there is no real solution for Gaza without the migration of Palestinians. These escalations occur as Israel reportedly controls over 60 percent of the enclave, with Netanyahu aiming to increase that control to 70 percent.
