Delcy Rodríguez, the Acting President of Venezuela, plans to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York next week. This visit marks the first time a Venezuelan head of state has attended the gathering in nearly a decade, following the last appearance by Nicolás Maduro in September 2018.
The trip is viewed as a significant step toward the rapid normalization of relations between Caracas and the administration of President Donald Trump. As part of the visit, Rodríguez is expected to conduct several high-level meetings.
Both President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have indicated their willingness to meet with Rodríguez during her time in New York to discuss the bilateral relationship between the two nations.
