Narendra Modi Attacks Congress Party at NDTV World Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the Congress party as a parasite while calling for global institutional reforms during the NDTV World Summit in New Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a wide-ranging address at the NDTV World Summit in New Delhi on Thursday, combining a sharp attack on the opposition with a call for global governance reform. Modi characterized the Indian National Congress as a "parasite" and alleged that "dimagi naxals" have seized control of the party's thinking. He claimed the party's family leadership has become a burden on the organization and mocked efforts to promote its leadership as a "failed product," comparing them to failed rocket launches from Sriharikota.

Modi further accused the Congress party of attempting to create disorder within India and defaming the nation's reputation by petitioning foreign powers for intervention. These remarks coincided with widespread protests in Delhi led by Rahul Gandhi and the INDIA bloc. Demonstrators are demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, which the Election Commission defends as a standard update.

On the international stage, Modi argued that the United Nations and other multilateral institutions are struggling to keep pace with a changing world order. He warned that trade, technology, and sea routes are being weaponized and advocated for a stronger voice for the Global South. Citing the aphorism 'matsya nyaya,' he called for a system that prevents powerful nations from exploiting the vulnerable, positioning India's goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047 as a guarantee for a better world.
