Meta Expands Hyperion AI Campus in Louisiana to 3,650 Acres

Meta Platforms Inc. expanded its Hyperion AI data center campus in Louisiana through a massive land acquisition to support superintelligent AI model development.

Meta Platforms Inc. expanded its Hyperion AI data center campus in Richland Parish, Louisiana, by purchasing approximately 1,400 acres of land adjacent to the original 2,250-acre site. The total project area now exceeds four times the size of New York City's Central Park. This growth supports the company's Meta Compute initiative, which aims to secure gigawatts of computing power for the development of superintelligent AI models.

The expansion follows an initial $10 billion investment announced in December 2024 and a subsequent joint venture with Blue Owl Capital targeting up to $27 billion in development costs. President Donald Trump stated that Meta intends to ultimately spend $50 billion on the facility. To meet the campus's immense energy requirements, Entergy is constructing three new natural gas plants at a cost of $3 billion.
