Trump Signs Diesel Order and Pledges $5,000 Midterm Dividend
President Donald Trump signed an executive order easing red-dye diesel limits in Nebraska and promised $5,000 payments to adults if Republicans win the midterms.
President Donald Trump signed an executive order in Grand Island, Nebraska, waiving off-road requirements for red-dye diesel to lower costs for farmers and consumers. The action took place at the Pinnacle Bank Expo Center as part of a 32-day midterm election campaign blitz. During the event, Trump promised a $5,000 "Trump Dividend" to all adult U.S. citizens if Republicans win the midterms, a proposal estimated to cost $3 trillion.
Governor Jim Pillen supported the federal move by announcing state-level diesel tax waivers and weight limit increases to assist the harvest. Senator Pete Ricketts also spoke at the rally, urging voter turnout and criticizing Senate Democrats for blocking the SAVE Act.
Democratic and Independent challengers criticized the Republican record. Candidate Lynne Walz accused Governor Pillen of failing to address property taxes, while Independent candidate Dan Osborn challenged the costs of foreign wars. However, Osborn noted that Trump's support for red-dye diesel and Right to Repair policies aligned with his own goals.
