Trump Supports Expedited Legal Pathway for Jewish Canadians

President Donald Trump indicated support for a proposal to create expedited legal pathways into the United States for Jewish Canadians fleeing antisemitic persecution. The initiative, which Trump amplified on Truth Social, originated from a request by the National Association of Christian Lawmakers (NACL) and a coalition of religious and civic leaders.

In a letter sent to the administration, the NACL urged the State Department and Department of Homeland Security to facilitate the relocation of Jewish families who can credibly demonstrate fears based on their faith. The group cited an alarming climate of harassment, violence, and threats targeting Jewish institutions in Canada following the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks, noting that over 2,000 Jewish Canadians have expressed interest in relocating.

NACL President Jason Rapert called on Trump to pressure Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to remove roadblocks hindering emigration. Prime Minister Carney acknowledged that Canada's civic compact is failing Jewish Canadians, stating that antisemitism has surged to levels not seen since World War II. In the U.S., Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt has pledged that his state would welcome these families provided they enter the country legally.
