Donald Trump Threatens Iran Nuclear Strikes Amid Diplomatic Talks
President Donald Trump warned he could destroy Iran's remaining nuclear sites in ten minutes while Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed ongoing diplomatic negotiations.
President Donald Trump claimed the United States can destroy Iran's remaining nuclear facilities, specifically naming the Pickaxe Mountain complex, within ten minutes. Speaking from Florida, Trump asserted that previous operations have already decimated Iran's navy, air force, and anti-aircraft capabilities. While he acknowledged that Iran is seeking an agreement, he questioned the reliability of the Iranian government, stating they often back out of deals.
Despite the military threats, Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that diplomatic conversations continue through intermediaries in Qatar and Pakistan. Iranian officials, including security chief Mohsen Rezaei, noted a positive shift in tone following a proposal for talks from Vice President JD Vance. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi further announced a proposal to fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz within two days.
In response to the threats, Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei warned that any military action would trigger an immediate, geographically unrestricted response. Khamenei ordered military commanders to update target lists to include all American and Israeli assets. Regional powers Saudi Arabia and Egypt have urged restraint to prevent further escalation of the conflict, which began in February.
Separately, Trump expressed optimism that a peace agreement to end the war between Russia and Ukraine could be signed during the G20 summit in December at his Trump National Doral resort. He also described Cuba as a failed country and suggested its communist leadership would soon fall.
