Rahul Gandhi Demands Education Minister Resign Over NEET Leaks

Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi led a series of protests in New Delhi between July 21 and July 23, targeting the government's handling of alleged NEET examination paper leaks and the subsequent police crackdown on student demonstrators. Following a police action where lathi charges were used against youth protesters, Gandhi visited injured students in hospitals and attempted to secure a parliamentary discussion through Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

On July 23, Gandhi was detained by Delhi Police during an opposition sit-in near Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence. Following his release, Gandhi alleged that police officers who dragged him away whispered for him to remove the government. He claimed that 152 paper leaks have occurred since 2014, impacting 75 million students, and called for the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

While the Indian National Congress demanded an apology from Prime Minister Modi for the brutality against students, the government responded via Health Minister JP Nadda. Nadda stated that the government is open to discussion and will investigate the allegations of exam irregularities to present the truth to the public. Concurrently, activist Sonam Wangchuk remains under medical care at Safdarjung Hospital while continuing a hunger strike.
