EU Sanctions 1,600 Russian Entities in Largest Single Listing
The European Union sanctioned nearly 1,600 Russian individuals and companies to disrupt the production of drones and ballistic missiles used in Ukraine.
The European Union imposed sanctions on Monday against nearly 1,600 Russian individuals and companies, marking the largest single listing of sanctions since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine began nearly five years ago. The measures primarily target mid-level suppliers of electronics, radar, navigation systems, and explosives essential for producing drones and ballistic missiles.
In addition to the military-industrial targets, the EU sanctioned 77 people for organizing or participating in sham elections within occupied Ukrainian territories. These latest additions bring the total number of sanctioned Russian officials and entities to over 4,500, a list that includes President Vladimir Putin, various banks, and oligarchs.
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas stated the move is intended to increase pressure on Moscow by specifically targeting the production chain of missiles used against Ukrainian civilians. Kallas noted that this is not the time to ease pressure on Moscow but to increase it.
