Marco Rubio Launches Task Force to Combat Birth Tourism
Secretary of State Marco Rubio established a task force to dismantle illegal birth tourism rings, revoking over 600 visas in its first month.
Marco Rubio announced the creation of the Birth Tourism Prevention Task Force to stop foreign nationals from exploiting U.S. laws to obtain citizenship for their children. The initiative targets networks that sell American citizenship and use forged documents or arranged travel to defraud the visa system.
The United States Department of State designed the task force to review visa holder activity and dismantle profit-driven coaching rings. In its first month of operation, the task force revoked more than 600 visas from foreign nationals globally.
Rubio stated that the State Department will use all available tools to defend the integrity of U.S. citizenship. He emphasized that the government intends to stop the commercialization of the process, asserting that "American citizenship is not for sale."
