Xi Jinping Visits Kyrgyzstan and Egypt for Diplomatic Summits
President Xi Jinping will attend the SCO Summit in Kyrgyzstan and visit Egypt to mark 70 years of diplomatic relations between August 30 and September 3.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China announced that Xi Jinping will travel to Kyrgyzstan and Egypt from August 30 to September 3. The itinerary begins in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, where the Chinese president will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2026 to mark the organization's 25th anniversary. While in Bishkek, he will hold talks with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and may meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a meeting that could influence Beijing's decision regarding the upcoming BRICS Summit in New Delhi.
Following the SCO summit, the Chinese president will make his first visit to Egypt in a decade. This state visit coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations. He is scheduled to hold talks with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to strengthen a strategic partnership that recently included the launch of the Egypt–China Partnership Year and a 2024–2028 executive cooperation programme.
Recent bilateral cooperation between the two countries includes the signing of 17 export contracts by Egyptian companies valued at approximately $168 million. Additionally, the two nations launched the Eagles of Civilization 2026 joint air exercise on August 22, signaling expanded defense and economic ties ahead of the presidential visit.
