Ukraine Launches 630 Drones into Moscow Region
Ukraine launched 630 drones at Moscow region industrial and residential sites to pressure Russia to end the conflict despite continued public support for Vladimir Putin.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine launched 630 drones into the Moscow region on Thursday, targeting industrial areas and residential complexes. The strikes hit towns such as Sofino, where attacks on a residential complex and industrial site killed two people and ignited multiple fires. This operation is part of a broader Ukrainian strategy to target Russian economic and military infrastructure, specifically oil refineries, to incite public pressure on the Kremlin to end the war.
Despite the strikes and an economy struggling with fuel shortages and rising prices, polling from the Levada Center shows that approximately 60 percent of Russians pay little to no attention to the fighting. Six in 10 respondents believe the country is on the right track, with many viewing current hardships as a new normal or a source of national pride. While some citizens express mistrust of government casualty reports, support for Vladimir Putin remains steady.
Simultaneously, the Trump administration has reportedly pressured Ukraine to cease its strikes on oil refineries. These diplomatic efforts coincide with reports that the United States is engaging in business deals with the Kremlin.
