Iran Threatens Oil Blockade After Trump Announces Economic D-Day

Iran has threatened to halt all oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf following an announcement by Donald Trump regarding a massive economic operation. The U.S. president described the planned "ECONOMIC D-DAY" as the most crushing economic operation ever taken against countries providing a lifeline to Iran.

Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, warned that Iran will regard any country's participation in or support for this economic campaign as an "act of war." This escalation follows the expiration of a 60-day negotiation window established under a June 18 memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, which failed to produce a final agreement.

Iranian leadership has reacted with a mix of defiance and alarm. President Masoud Pezeshkian characterized the current situation as an "all-out" economic, military, and security war. Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi dismissed the U.S. strategy as repetitive bullying, suggesting the Iranian government knows how to handle such tactics.
