Trump Signs AI Self-Policing Pact and Launches Project Meridian
President Donald Trump signed a self-policing agreement with AI CEOs and established a military taskforce to ensure technological dominance on the battlefield.
President Donald Trump established a series of strategic alliances between the White House, the Pentagon, U.S. intelligence agencies, and leading AI companies to integrate artificial intelligence into national power. Trump and six AI CEOs, including Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Jensen Huang, and Dario Amodei, signed a morally binding agreement to implement a framework of self-policing for the industry. Trump described the agreement as "almost like a Constitution in a way" and a "form of protection."
To align military capabilities with these advancements, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth created Project Meridian. This taskforce, which includes Elon Musk, Palmer Luckey, and Emil Michael, must deliver recommendations for absolute technological dominance on the next-generation battlefield within 120 days.
In a shift toward enhanced surveillance and intelligence gathering, Trump appointed Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton as the administration's AI czar. As part of this strategic pivot, Trump also decreed that government documents replace the term artificial intelligence with super intelligence.
