Trump Predicts End to Iran Conflict Amid Leadership Concerns
President Donald Trump says the conflict with Iran will end soon while suggesting the U.S. may have overreached in targeting Iranian leadership.
President Donald Trump announced that the conflict with Iran will end soon, whether through diplomacy or military force, and stated that the upcoming November 3 midterm elections will not influence his policy. While he confirmed the U.S. will not conduct additional strikes before the elections, he noted that military planners have developed options for a three-day intensive campaign targeting Iranian energy infrastructure, missile installations, and drone facilities.
During a campaign rally in Youngstown, Ohio, Trump suggested the U.S. may have gone too far in targeting Iranian leadership, claiming Washington is now struggling to identify officials available for negotiations. He asserted that nobody wants to be the president of Iran, despite Masoud Pezeshkian holding the office since July 2024. Trump further claimed that the entire Iranian air force and all 159 of its ships have been destroyed.
Trump described current discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran as productive and predicted that oil prices will drop significantly once the war ends. Simultaneously, he criticized Houthi rebels in Yemen for misbehaving very badly following missile attacks on Saudi Arabian airports that killed an American citizen.
