Russian Drone Strikes Kill Three Across Ukraine
Russian drone attacks targeted Kharkiv, Volyn, and Uman, killing three people and causing massive power outages across multiple Ukrainian regions.
Russian drone strikes targeted multiple Ukrainian cities on October 16, resulting in at least three deaths and numerous injuries. In Kharkiv, attacks on the Osnovyanskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, and Industrialnyi districts killed a 71-year-old woman and a 58-year-old man. Oleh Synehubov, Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported that 19 others were affected, including 12 with physical injuries and five suffering from acute stress reactions.
In the Volyn region, strikes hit a garage cooperative in the Lutsk community and the Agrofrukt LTD private enterprise in Manevychi. Roman Romaniuk, Head of the Volyn Regional Military Administration, confirmed one death at the Agrofrukt facility. The attacks caused significant power outages in Volyn, with reports varying between 270,000 and 370,000 people losing electricity.
Further strikes hit an apartment building in Uman, injuring five people, and triggered emergency power cuts in Kyiv. In response to the wide-scale aerial activity, the Armed Forces of Poland scrambled fighter jets to protect its airspace, though officials reported no violations occurred.
