Netanyahu Accuses New York Mayor Mamdani of Fomenting Hate

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani engaged in a public dispute on Sunday regarding Netanyahu's scheduled visit to the United Nations General Assembly in September. Mamdani labeled Netanyahu a war criminal and the architect of a horrific genocide, urging for his arrest under an International Criminal Court warrant, though he acknowledged the city lacks the legal authority to execute such an arrest.

Netanyahu responded during a Fox News interview, accusing Mamdani of "fomenting hate" and aligning with Hamas. He claimed the mayor's rhetoric fuels division and increases fear among Jewish residents, specifically linking the discourse to a recent stabbing of a Jewish man in Manhattan. Netanyahu dismissed the ICC war crime charges as "bogus" and stated his intention to speak for the Israeli-American alliance at the UN.

Beyond the mayoral dispute, Netanyahu asserted that Israel has destroyed 94% of Hezbollah's missile arsenal and that joint operations with the U.S. have delayed Iran's nuclear program. The Prime Minister is also scheduled to visit Washington on Tuesday to attend the funeral of Senator Lindsey Graham and meet with President Donald Trump to discuss Gaza, Iran, and security cooperation.
