Zelenskiy Proposes US Talks Amid UK Military Aid Boost

Volodymyr Zelenskiy proposed new talks with US envoys to end the war while securing accelerated missile deliveries from the United Kingdom.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy proposed new negotiations with U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to discuss ending the war with Russia. The request follows meetings in the United States where envoys suggested that permitting Russian diesel exports could incentivize Moscow to return to the table. In a Tuesday video address, Zelenskiy expressed support for an energy truce proposed by President Donald Trump, provided Russia adheres to the agreement.

Simultaneously, Zelenskiy is visiting London for a meeting with Prime Minister Andy Burnham at Downing Street. The visit comes as the United Kingdom moves to accelerate military assistance, specifically speeding up the delivery of lightweight multirole missiles to counter Russian drones. This support follows a controversial U.S. decision to ease sanctions on Russian diesel and claims from Zelenskiy that Ukraine received no prior warning of a recent Russian ballistic missile attack.

While Donald Trump suggested Ukraine may need a new leader and claimed Vladimir Putin is more eager for peace, the British government has reaffirmed its commitment to Kyiv. Prime Minister Burnham described British support as rock solid, while Chancellor John Healey is advocating for an international ban on Russian liquefied natural gas during IMF talks in Bangkok.
