Trump and King Charles III Mark Ukraine Independence Day

President Donald Trump and King Charles III issued formal messages to President Volodymyr Zelensky to commemorate the 35th anniversary of Ukraine's independence from the Soviet Union on August 24. In a letter to Zelensky, Trump praised the resilient spirit of the Ukrainian people and the 35-year diplomatic bond between the two nations, calling for an end to the conflict to establish a durable, lasting peace.

King Charles III similarly praised Ukraine's indomitable national spirit and the extraordinary fortitude shown by Ukrainians in defending their homeland. President Zelensky responded to the King's wishes, describing them as deeply moving and exceptionally meaningful.

These diplomatic gestures coincided with a visit to Kyiv by British Prime Minister Andy Burnham. During the visit, Burnham announced that the United Kingdom would provide Ukraine with blueprints for long-range Scalp missiles to support its defense against Russia. Zelensky shared Trump's message on social media, stating the words provided hope for protecting lives and achieving a dignified peace.
