Putin and Jaishankar Discuss Trade and Fertilizer Supplies in Moscow

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in Moscow on August 24, 2026, to co-chair the 27th Session of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation. During the talks, the leaders focused on bilateral relations, specifically targeting cooperation in high-technology sectors and nuclear energy.

President Putin noted an increase in trade turnover for the current year and committed to expanding fertilizer supplies to support Indian agriculture. He expressed a desire to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon through the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and indicated that another meeting between the two heads of state is likely before the end of the year.

Minister Jaishankar conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Modi and extended invitations for President Putin to visit India for the annual bilateral summit and the BRICS Summit. The discussions emphasized the ongoing economic and strategic ties between the two nations.
