Zelenskyy Accuses Trump of Betrayal Amid Diplomatic Rupture
Volodymyr Zelenskyy says he feels betrayed by Donald Trump following U.S. policy shifts on Russian sanctions and pressure to halt strikes on oil refineries.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated he feels betrayed by U.S. President Donald Trump following a series of diplomatic ruptures. In an interview with Piers Morgan, Zelenskyy warned that Ukraine is losing the United States as a strong partner, citing Trump's decision to ease sanctions on Russian diesel fuel and Washington's pressure to halt Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries.
Tensions escalated after Trump suggested on October 10 that Ukraine needs a new president and announced an energy truce on October 11, which Russia subsequently ignored with heavy missile and drone strikes. Ukraine also accused SpaceX of disrupting military drone missions by imposing speed limits on Starshield terminals.
During a visit to London, Zelenskyy met with Prime Minister Andy Burnham, who reaffirmed British support and announced £45 million in surface-to-air missiles. While Zelenskyy expressed satisfaction with a neutral U.S. stance, he cautioned that Trump's advisers are pushing the president toward the wrong side of history.
