Trump-Backed Candidates Suffer Major Election Losses Globally

Donald Trump saw several endorsed foreign leaders lose power in recent elections across Brazil, Serbia, Hungary, and Israel.

Recent elections in four countries have challenged the international influence of Donald Trump, as multiple candidates he backed or aligned with suffered defeats. In Hungary, Viktor Orban was removed from office after 16 years despite public support from Trump and Vice President JD Vance. In Brazil, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva won reelection, defeating the Trump-aligned Flávio Bolsonaro.

Similar losses occurred in Serbia and Israel. A student-led movement ousted the ruling party of populist leader Aleksandar Vucic in Serbia. Meanwhile, early results from Israel's October 27 election indicate that Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party likely lost its parliamentary majority following an endorsement from Trump.

Aleksandar Vucic attributed his loss to a "legitimization of a revolution carried out by the people with direct support from various European countries and the American deep state, the one that opposes President Trump."

While right-wing movements remain strong in Argentina and Germany, analysts suggest Trump's global influence is currently limited by national interests and his own declining popularity, driven by rising energy costs and the war in Iran.
