Israel Cuts French Defense Ties as Trump Warns Allies

The Israel Ministry of Defense has reduced all defense procurement from France to zero and canceled all new professional engagements with the French military. The move follows France's decision to block aircraft transporting munitions and military supplies to Israel through its airspace during the ongoing offensive against Iran. Israel is now diverting those funds toward domestic "Blue and White" procurement and other allied nations to achieve maximal independence from foreign military aid.

U.S. President Donald Trump condemned the French restrictions and criticized other NATO allies, including Italy and Spain, for obstructing U.S. operations. Italy denied U.S. bombers landing rights at the Sigonella air base, and Spain closed its airspace to U.S. planes attacking Iran. Trump warned that the United States will remember these actions, questioning the viability of alliances with countries unwilling to stand by the U.S. during conflict.

These diplomatic ruptures occur as Iran increases pressure on Europe through the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and missile strikes targeting Diego Garcia and other regional bases. French President Emmanuel Macron has distanced France from the military campaign, pledging that French forces will not participate in operations to liberate the strait. While France maintains an arms embargo on Israel and restricts its airspace, it recently delivered 39 armored personnel carriers to the Lebanese Army.
